In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore how to dye protein fibers (animal-based yarns like wool) using professional acid dyes and citric acid. You’ll learn how to mix and apply color intentionally to create a beautiful self-striping skein—perfect for projects that showcase color transitions without constant yarn changes. We’ll cover dye safety, color placement, dye math, and setting techniques so you leave confident in the process.

Each participant will choose Sock yarn (enough for a full pair of socks), or Worsted weight yarn (enough for a hat or scarf) below. You’ll head home with your own custom-dyed skein—completely unique and ready to cast on. No experience necessary. All materials and tools are provided—just bring your creativity and clothes you don’t mind getting a little colorful! Bring a water bottle. Minimum 3 students, Maximum 8.

Class Cancellation Policy: A 5-day notice is required for cancellation without a penalty.  Cancellations made within 5 days of a class will not be refunded and no transfers will be applied to other classes.  In the event of insufficient sign-ups (less than 3 students), we will cancel the class and you will be notified and given a full refund.
